The rivers in Chile allow for spectacular white-water rafting in addition to its breathtaking surroundings with waterfalls, hot springs, high snow peaks and diverse wildlife. Available from October to March.
The Lake District of Chile contains a series of crystalline, pristine, lakes interconnected by some of the world's finest white-water and surrounded by volcanic peaks.
The trips are for Class III-IV paddlers. Paddlers are expected to have previous experience in class IV rivers.
Day 1. Temuco-Pucon
Arrival to Temuco, reception and transfer to Pucon, where we stay at a good local inn. Pucon has many excellent restaurants to choose from.
Day 2. Lower Trancura
After a 15 min shuttle from Pucon, we arrive to the beautiful Trancura River. This is the classic run with the lower Trancura a class III river, with a couple of III+ rapids: El Pescador and El Murallon. This is the perfect river to warm up and to surf waves, catch eddies and settle into our boats. The put in is a perfect place to start before heading downstream through the scenic river valley. In the afternoon, we drive half an hour for a bath at the Huife hotsprings before returning to Pucon.
Day 3. Upper & Lower Trancura
An exciting and action packed day where we will run the upper section of the Trancura river. This is a class IV run, including the Salto Chico, Puerta del Infierno, Salto Feo and Problema del Diablo (Devil's Problem), a class IV+ that can be portaged.
We run again the lower Trancura and take out at Balseo. Overnight in Pucon.
Day 4. Rio Fuy-lower
We drive south to Choshuenco, our base camp for the next day. We will stay in a small inn with great food. In the afternoon we will paddle the lower section of the river, a good class III.
Day 5. Rio Fuy-middle
Today we will run the middle Fuy. This class IV section starts off with a bang as the run takes us through a boulder-strewn river bed with countless eddies to catch and holes to surf. After the run, we drive to Panguipulli where we spend the next two nights.
Day 6. Rio San Pedro
Today we will run the Rio San Pedro and enjoy the demanding white-water. Clean routes lead to big class III+ and IV runs. Farewell dinner and overnight in Panguipulli.
Day 7. Temuco
In the morning, transfer to Temuco's airport for your departure flight.
